Interventional Pain & Emergency Medicine

Nicole Palmer, MD

Gregory Moore, MD, Co-founder of Pacific Sports & Spine
Dr. Nicole Palmer is an Interventional Pain Medicine and Emergency Medicine physician, bringing a broad and versatile skill set to the treatment of acute and chronic pain. She earned her undergraduate degree in Socio-cultural Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego, before going on to earn her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and her fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University.

Dr. Palmer believes that treating pain starts with understanding the whole person, not just the diagnosis. She takes the time to get to know each patient’s story, goals, and what living well looks like for them, then works collaboratively to find a path forward. Her approach seeks to address all the ways that pain prevents patients from living the life they want, addressing both physical pain and the suffering it creates. This approach has been informed by her experience working in diverse communities domestically and abroad. Living and working in South Africa and Rwanda has led to a practice that is cognizant of both people’s individual perspectives and backgrounds and of the universal need for empathy and quality care.

Clinically, Dr. Palmer takes a multimodal approach to pain management, combining movement-based therapies, mind-body strategies, medication management, and a full range of interventional procedures.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Palmer can usually be found hiking with her wife and Jack the lab (the goodest boy), gardening, or learning to fly-fish.
